Tim Jag walks through the Nuevo Mexicano Heritage Arts Museum gallery as he installs an exhibit. Museum leaders hope to draw a larger audience with the new name, new logo, and other, more tangible changes, like a kitchen partnership with a cooking nonprofit and a sculpture garden.

It's now free to both visit the Nuevo Mexicano Heritage Arts Museum and join as a member.

The change comes a couple of months after the museum adopted its new name; it previously was known as the Spanish Colonial Arts Museum. The museum, operated by the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, is nearing its 100th anniversary.

Basic membership benefits include free admission to educational events such as lectures; by-appointment access to the Stockman Collections Center and Hale Mathews Research Library; invitations to members-only exhibition previews and events; a 15% discount on books in Arts Society bookstore; an invitation to a yearly appreciation party; a subscription to Arts Society monthly e-newsletters; and a 10% discount at Museum Hill Café.
