Three N.M. schools win National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards
Three New Mexico schools — Lincoln Elementary School in Gallup, Lydia Rippey Elementary School in Aztec and Monte Vista Elementary School in Albuquerque — have been recognized as U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools.
The Blue Ribbon School Program honors public and private schools for academic excellence and progress in closing achievement gaps.
“We could not be prouder of our Blue Ribbon Schools this year, and the success of each school is rooted in their ties to community, strong leadership and resilience,” said Public Education Department Secretary Arsenio Romero in a news release announcing the awards.
Northern New Mexico College to host 'Paletas con Presidente Balderas'
Northern New Mexico College has invited members of the public to join College President Hector Balderas for paletas and a state of the college update.
The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the events center on Northern's Española campus.
Santa Fe Children's Museum hosts on home in Chinese, Japanese, Hmong cultures
Home, a modular exhibit inviting children and families to explore the insides and outsides of Chinese, Japanese and Hmong homes, opened Thursday at the Santa Fe Children's Museum.
From the Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series, Home displays three unique Asian homes with an emphasis on cooking, gardening and play in each culture, allowing curious kids to pretend to grow plants on a Beijing balcony garden or barbecue for a Hmong festival.
LANL Foundation receives 'Building Capacity' award
The LANL Foundation's Education Enrichment team has been recognized by the New Mexico National Board Certified Teacher Network for its work to support and develop teachers in the state, particularly educators seeking their National Board Certification.
Michael Dabrieo, Education Enrichment Director at the LANL Foundation, and Paul Le Francois, K-12 Program Coordinator, were awarded the “Building Capacity” award Sept. 16.
